LoRa APRS Tracking in the Lake District

Since I got my own LoRa tracker (and LoRa iGate) I’ve been monitoring how good coverage was after each WOTA and SOTA activation. So far this year I’ve done 33 WOTAs and most had what I would call excellent coverage (either 100% coverage over the entire walk up or nearly so).

My exceptions – as others have found - were in the north of the county, e.g. no coverage on Halin Fell (LDW-203) and High Rigg (LDW-210) and poor coverage on Watch Hill – Setmurthy Common (LDO-089). However, some northern summits had excellent coverage, e.g. Great & Little Mell Fells (LDW-155 and LDW-173).

Since I did those activations two new LoRa iGates have been set up near Carlisle and there could well be good coverage now on those fells. If anyone activates them [or any other WOTAs] with a LoRa tracker, it would be interesting if you would check the coverage (e.g. after you get home) and let us know.

BTW: Cunswick Scar (LDO-110) is unknown as I didn’t take the tracker.
