A Gathering to Remember M8XGO Richard – 6 August

Hello everyone,
Richard M8XGO

I have received a message from Annis, Richard’s wife, asking me to share some information with his friends in the radio community.

In accordance with Richard’s wishes, there will be no traditional funeral. He requested a private, unattended cremation and wanted his family and good friends to gather together afterwards to raise a glass in his memory.

Family and friends are invited to meet on:

Thursday 6 August at 1:30pm
O’Halloran’s, Bigrigg Cumbria

There will be a bite to eat and an opportunity for everyone to share memories and raise a glass to Richard.

The dress code is completely casual. Richard hated dressing up for occasions, so please come in whatever you feel comfortable wearing.

Annis hopes that Richard’s friends from the radio community will be able to join them. She needs an approximate idea of numbers, so please let me know as soon as possible if you are planning to attend. I will then pass the numbers on to her.

Richard spoke with many of us over the years and will be greatly missed on the air.

It was really nice to meet Lee @M5LEE and Reg @2e0ldf for the first time face-to-face at Richard’s gathering, as well as seeing Derek @2E0MIX and Geoff @GM4WHA again. A good turnout of friends from the radio amateur community and it was clear that he was held in high regard.

I talked briefly to Annis to express my condolences personally and on behalf of the WOTA community.

Nice to meet you, Mark, although under such sad circumstances. He had a great turnout which shows just how many people thought so highly of him. He will be sadly missed by many.
