I wanted a decent walk that wasn’t too strenuous , for my Wife who’s just got over the bad back she had for a few weeks . After doing Gt Worm crag and Green Crag with Reg a few days earlier in the same area , I thought Seat How , Rough Crag and Water Crag looked good.
It turned out to be a very nice walk , and somewhere I’d never been before though being very aware of Devoke Water . Funny enough we met a couple on Water Crag of our age from Gosforth who said they’d never been before either .
I was surprised at the amount of contacts I got , and where they came from considering they are lower fells , and Reg and I only had about seven or eight contacts on 2 and 4m between both Green and Worm Crags nearby. I got 4 contacts on Seat How and 10 on both the other two summits including a SOTA summit in N Wales and a G/NP on Fountains Fell as well as contacts to Oldham , Chorley and surprisingly I got Reg from home on both Rough Crag (on the beam both ways ) and Water Crag ( on the flowerpot ,my end ) .
There was a touch of Autumn creeping in noticeably today , as you can see from the attached photos . The bracken is turning a copper colour , the willow herb are going to seed and the heather is in bloom indicating the end of Summer .
