Great Gable activation on 7th Aug 2009

Hi,

This was an activation i did on 7th August 2009. The summits activated were Grey Knotts LDW-091, Brandreth LDW-079, Green Gable LDW-034 and Great Gable LDW-007 / LD-005.

We started from Honister Slate Mines car park. From Great Gable i operated 2m FM and SSB. 4m FM, 23cms FM and 70cms SSB.

The number of contacts i made on the different bands/modes are as follows:-

2m FM 4

4m FM 6

23cms FM 1

2m SSB 1

70cms SSB 1

For 4m i used a 4m j-pole and an ICOM IC-E90

One of my favourite summits @GM4WHA and I had a glorious Christmas Eve on there a couple of years ago. When I activated Dale Head and Robinson there were a couple of guys on Great Gable - S2S was achieved from both locations - but they were in the cloud for the whole time! Felt sorry for them, as it was very windy too and there isn’t much shelter on the top!
