The start of 2025 and the Mrs M7RLO (lolo) buys us a wainwrights book, thermal socks, thermal tops and new walking boot and say to me, i want to walk all of the wainwright’s… i said great ill activate them and she can also activate them with her callsign she never uses. Anyone know our tail, Lois said she could easy get a radio licence so me being me, i booked her a test and a book and gaver her 4 weeks… she passed
We opted for a little walk to start off. We are camped at Park Foot holiday park, that she booked for us in the motorhome for my birthday yesterday [14th].
The entrance to the hill is actually at the top of the caravan park.
First stop was Arthur’s Pike were we both worked Geoff GM4WHA then Peter GM3BMB then John G0TDM.
We then moved on to Bonscale Pike another few miles away and worked Geoff GM4WHA and John G0TDM. That got us activated then I worked my repeater GB3MX and spoke to Alex G7KSE. Alex said he could hear noise on 500 but couldnt work us.
I was using 2 radios for the job.
I tried my Retevis Handy with my Chinese RH770 telescopic and also used my £12 TidRadio H3 and that worked as good.
On the way back we carried on another 1.8 miles into Pooly Bridge, got a coffee and a big cake oh and some new walking boots as mine had holes in them and let water in. Antother hike back to the motorhome and Lois is makong us a fat steak dinner.
Steak pie and chips for us - with asparagus to be healthy.
Great to get both of you in the log today from Helvellyn. The guy I met on the way up Raise Beck had nine Wainwrights left to do - I’ve no idea what number I’m up to but I know there are load left that’s for sure…
Looks Like you had a slightly better day for walking with the weather back there .Over here in Yorkshire it was barely above freezing all morning, fog and drizzle ! That’s the new walking gear broken in ready for the rest of the year.

I did try to work you, Lee. It wasn’t until I got home again that I realised you need to either use a wild card, or a “-7” on aprs.fi, so I wasn’t seeing your pings. Still, I made a nice brew in the layby at Scilly Banks so not all was lost.
