Mark I had a problem up loading photos to Discourse

I was adding some photos to an activation report but after the second photo it said I had exceeded the 100 mg limit. All photos were down sized to 2 mg the same as I always do and can normally put at least 12 on the site

Is it some thing at my end or do you have any ideas

Reg

I think I’ve had that too Reg, it’s lying about the size. Not sure what I did to solve it for me. First thing at this end is to update to the latest version of discourse.

I have down sized photos to 1 meg and it is still telling me I have exceeded a 100 meg limit

Hi Reg, can you email me one of the images please? mark@wickensonline.co.uk
it is definitely a bug, and the site is set for the maximum size of image which is way over what most folk would be uploading. If I can try it myself maybe I can see where the issues in the logs.

Cheers, Mark.

I’ve been looking at this tonight Reg but so far not found a solution. Your photo is 4MB - and the site is configured to accept 100MB files, although there is another restriction on the nginx reverse proxy, but that is even 10MB, and I’ve increased that to 100MB, but still not getting anywhere.

Mark.

I use Corel Photopaint to down size all photos for discourse. It’s got the photo that I emailed to you at 1.3 meg so not sure how it’s now up to 4 meg

Reg

Yeah sorry, on the MacBook it’s listed at 1.4MB, my bad. I mean weird to think it would fill a floppy disk - but perfectly acceptable by modern standards!

No joy so far trying to sort this, it’s quite annoying.
However, I’m thinking now of shifting it off the VPS server and onto my home machine. The other parts of WOTA seem to be pretty stable now, and that’s where they are running. Contabo are about to put their prices up by about 30%, and it will effectively be free once I’ve switched.

There are few moving parts to consider however.

Mark.

Sorry i’ve given you a lot of extra work just look at it as and when you have spare time and I guess you don’t have much of that
